It was an exciting evening (28 April) for nominees and hosts of Archery GB's ontarget Club and Volunteer Awards 2020 which, due to the lockdown, was held online for the first time.

Continuing our news yesterday (28 April) promoting the ontarget Club and Volunteer Awards 2020 online presentation, Archery GB is delighted to report that the winners are:

Category Winner
Young Volunteer of the Year Max Oakley
Volunteer of the Year Peter Curnock
Community Specialism Club Lutterworth Archery Club
Young People Specialism Club Wilford Bowmen
Performance Specialism Club Peacock Archers
Special Recognition Award Deer Park Archers
ontarget Club of the Year Wallingford Castle Archers

Arran Coggan, Archery GB’s Head of Clubs and Membership, said: “Every year I am amazed by the nominations we receive. Sport is run by volunteers and archery volunteers certainly go above and beyond to make the sport happen. The awards we gave out are the tip of the iceberg and we could have given out many more. Whilst we normally attend each club to give the awards in front of the club members, this was a nice alternative and everyone was appreciative of our efforts, but the stars were the members. It has brought a glimmer of light to a cloudy period in our lives, and we cannot wait to visit these clubs to hand the winners their trophies!”

Everyone who (virtually) attended showed the Archery GB team great support for hosting the online event.

Steve Atwood of Wilford Bowmen said: “Thank you for all the work that you put into the presentation session last night. I must admit it seemed a little surreal, but overall it worked well. And on behalf of Wilford Bowmen, thank you for our club award.”

Jayne Curnock said: “Just a quick word to say thank you to you and your team. The presentation ceremony was really good. To say Peter was surprised is an understatement – he feels quite humbled by it all.”

Marc Tamlyn of Wallingford Castle Archers commented: “Thanks so much for the accolade. It’s been a lot of hard work, not just from myself but the whole club, and it really feels like things have progressed a lot in the last 18 months. Obviously it’s all come a bit to a standstill in the last few weeks, but we’ve got everything in place we need to hit the ground running as soon as possible.”

Congratulations to all nominees. Please find more details about the categories and winners on the document shown below.
