Introducing team from Great Britain heading to the 2025 FISU World University Summer Games in Rhine-Ruh, Germany.
The FISU World University Games (WUGS) is a major multi-sport event, bringing together university students from across the globe to compete in their respective sports. The tournament takes place every two years, each time alternating between the Summer and Winter editions. This year, the summer event is taking place in Germany across several host cities from 16-27 July. The archery will be held at the Sportpark Am Hallo Stadion in Essen from 22-26 July.
The last time GB sent an archery team to compete at the event was in 2019, when the competition took place in Naples, Italy. This year, we are very excited to see a new pool of student athletes compete at WUGS, showing what they can bring to the medal table.
The selected archers have all competed for GB at youth, senior, or international level. Megan Costall is one of the archers on the current recurve World Class Programme, Louisa Piper came third at the 2024 National Tour Final, and Calum Piggott is a European Field U21 team medallist.
For the compound archers, Ajay Scott, Chloe A’Bear, and Grace Chappell have competed for GB at World Cups, and most recently, Ajay won mixed team gold at the Shanghai stage. Hallie Boulton won bronze at the 2023 World Youth Champion for U21 compound women, and Finlay Clark took the U18 compound men’s title at 2023 European Youth Cup.
