Many of our members ask what their membership fees actually go towards, and the answer’s really simple: they go towards building archery from the ground up.
As your national governing body and a not-for-profit organisation, we're committed to investing every single penny of your membership fee back into the sport – with a strong focus on the grassroots that form the bedrock of our archery community. From developing local clubs and training new coaches to supporting junior archers and ensuring safe environments, your membership fee directly funds the essential work that helps archery flourish where you shoot.
To put it into perspective, your £60 membership fee (in 2024/2025) equates to approximately £1.15 a week, which seems like a small price to pay for the development programmes, volunteer training, governance and welfare support, community support and extensive insurance that benefit archers nationwide, starting at your local club.
AGB also receives funding and sponsorship from various partners. Sport England provides crucial funding for the grassroots development of the sport and the talent pathway, while UK Sport supports our performance teams. However, it's your membership fee that provides a consistent and vital stream of investment directly into the foundations of archery across the UK. When you join us, you become more than an individual archer – you become part of a collective effort, a community where together, we are all strengthening the sport from the ground up.
Quality coaching is at the heart of our sport. Your membership helps us provide continuous professional development for coaches and volunteers. This ensures that every archer, from beginner to elite, receives the best training, guidance and support. We offer accessible training resources, workshops held regionally, and certification programmes to maintain high coaching standards where you train and compete.
Safety is paramount at every archery club and event. Your membership fee contributes directly to maintaining and improving safety standards across all clubs and events in the UK. This includes funding for essential safety equipment, training for club Range Assessors in your region, and regular safety audits to ensure a secure and enjoyable environment for all archers at your local range.
Your membership plays a crucial role in building a strong and supportive community of archers, both nationally and within your local area. We create networking opportunities, social events at clubs and regional gatherings, and online forums where members can share their experiences and knowledge, strengthening the bonds within our archery community.
As an AGB member, you enjoy a range of exclusive benefits, including access to support and advice through the club> County> Region> National structure, discounts on archery equipment, access to member-only events, and the opportunity to earn badges and awards that recognise your achievements within the community. You also receive Archery UK magazine twice a year, keeping you informed about the latest news and developments in the world of archery, including stories and updates from clubs and organisations around the country.
We are deeply committed to ensuring archery is a sport for everyone in every community. As well as the majority of funding being sourced from external partners, your membership supports vital initiatives like Project Rimaya, which works to increase participation among under-represented groups in clubs across the nation, and our work with disabled archers, supported by the Fletchers’ Trust, ensuring that archery is inclusive and welcoming at your local range. We also use funding from Sport England and other partners to offer specialised programmes and resources that make archery accessible to all members of our community.
AGB supports a variety of competitions and events throughout the year, from friendly local club tournaments to larger national gatherings. Your membership, alongside entry fees, contributes directly to the smooth running and enjoyment of these events.
Your membership fee is vital in cultivating the next generation of archers and strengthening local clubs. We channel significant resources into youth programmes and talent development pathways, providing young archers in your area with the training and opportunities they need to thrive. This includes local junior tournaments and coaching sessions specifically designed to inspire and develop talent right in your region.
Your membership makes a real difference towards enriching lives through archery.
