Cunard partnership brings archery to new cruise ship

When the Queen Anne embarks on its maiden voyage in 50 days time, passengers will be able to try archery thanks to a new partnership with Archery GB.

Cunard's luxury cruise line has given people the chance to try all sorts of sports and deck games for more than a century, but the new ship is believed to be the first in the world to offer archery.

Guests on the Queen Anne can master their archery skills with a real bow and arrow, as Cunard elevates its deck-game offering with a new Archery GB partnership.

The partnership connects Cunard with world-leading athletes and Olympic coaches and will include onboard instructors accredited by Archery GB. The 3,000-guest ship will be an official Archery GB activity centre, where guests will be able to learn the basics with in-person coaching, compete with fellow travellers, and enjoy a social introduction to the sport.

'Continue their journey'

Gayle Pink, Archery GB's Head of Participation, said: "This is a hugely exciting opportunity for us to grow the sport of archery. While some ships already offer Arrows, our soft archery option, we believe this is the first time 'pointy archery' has been offered on a cruise ship.

"With thousands of people embarking on cruises every year, we are looking forward to introducing even more people to our sport and, thanks to our partnership, they will be encouraged to continue their journey by joining an Archery GB club once they return to port."

Katie McAlister, President of Cunard, said: "Whether it's pickleball, archery, or world-class shows and lectures, Cunard is committed to providing guests with a wealth of activities to choose from whatever mood or interest may take them. Our onboard entertainment has always been at the heart of what we do, and we look forward to Queen Anne continuing this trend in the future."
