Voting opens for World Archery’s 2019 Athlete of the Year awards

Who should win World Archery's 2019 Athlete of the Year awards? Now’s the chance to have your say in a public poll featuring six categories: recurve men, recurve women, compound men, compound women, para men and para women.

Nominees include the reigning world and Hyundai Archery World Cup Champions. Also in the running are Archery GB’s Para archers Jessica Stretton and Steve Prowse.

The six athlete awards are decided by a combination of public and expert panel vote. Three further awards for coach, breakthrough athlete and judge of the year are decided by expert panel vote.

See the full list of nominees and place your vote before midnight CET on 31 January 2020.

Award winners will be announced during the Indoor Archery World Series Finals in Las Vegas on Saturday 8 February.

Paralympic Games coverage to be on free-to-air TV

This morning, the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS) officially announced that the Paralympic Games are now added to the 'Crown Jewels' list of events that are required by law to be on free-to-air television, giving it parity with the Olympic Games and the likes of the FIFA World Cup.

The final day of Nimes rewarded British archers with precious medals – gold for Layla Annison in the Compound Junior Women category and bronze for Kai Thomas-Prause (pictured together) in the Compound Junior Men.
