Do you want to help with an exciting eSports opportunity at the Commonwealth Games?

Refract is looking for volunteers to help run their booth at the Commonwealth Games this weekend!

What is Tic-Tac-Bow?

Tic-Tac-Bow (TTB) is a mobile archery game that puts a spin on the popular classic Tic-Tac-Toe. In place of the usual empty spaces for “Xs” and “Os” are archery boards where players can score between 1 to 10 points.

Like Tic-Tac-Toe, the winner of the game is first to line up 3 in-a-row however, TTB adds an additional layer of strategy and skill through its takeover mechanic. If a player owns a target board, the other player may takeover that board by achieving a higher score. That board now belongs to the last player with the highest score.

TTB has been closely developed with guidance from World Archery. Refract and World Archery are working towards making it a medal event at the next Olympic Virtual Series in 2023.

Refract’s involvement at the Commonwealth Esports Championship

Refract has been invited to be an exhibitor at the inaugural Commonwealth Esports Championship from 6 to 7 August 2022 at The International Convention Centre in Birmingham, United Kingdom.

At the event, TTB will be featured under the Innovation Showcase, which highlights game and technology innovations that bridge physical and virtual sport.

Volunteers Responsibilities:

  • Assist with engaging event attendees at Refract’s booth (e.g., facilitating games between players, sharing information about Archery, Tic-Tac-Bow, etc.).

Time Commitment:

  • To attend a 30-minute online event briefing via Zoom prior to the event.
  • To commit to 2 days (5 to 6 August), from 9 am to 5 pm on each day.
  • Duties will be done in shifts and breaks will be provided for lunch and refreshments.

Benefits:

  • Refract will provide £50 per volunteer each day to cover transport and food.

Who can apply?

Anyone over the age of 18 is able to apply. We are looking for keen gamers and archers who can assist at the booth. Please apply by 12pm Wednesday 3 August 2022.
