Join the Archery GB Board
Do you want to play a crucial role in the future of our sport? If the answer is yes, Archery GB is inviting you to apply to join our Board.
There are three Board positions available: Chair, Independent Director (Finance), and Elected Director. Members can apply for the Chair and the Elected Director vacancies. Nominations are also invited for the roles of President and Vice-President.
The Board is required to maintain a balance of skills and experience among its members. Because of initiatives to promote archery in ethnic communities, such as our two-year SportsAid supported project aimed at widening the demographic profile of archery, one of the vacancies will need to be filled by someone who brings the appropriate knowledge and skills. So what do the roles entail?
The key responsibilities are to chair Board meetings, have a strategic overview of the four-year strategy and annual plans, to work with the Company Secretary to prepare information for Board meetings and to work with the Chief Executive and act as Archery GB’s representative in its dealings with stakeholders. The four-year term is voluntary with expenses paid. The Chair can serve a maximum of two terms. All members – and non-members – can apply for this role.
You can find out more about the post here.
Independent Director (Finance)
The key responsibilities of this non-executive director role are to attend Board meetings and offer an independent view to help it reach balanced and objective decisions, chair the audit and risk committee, present the annual accounts to fellow Board members and work with them and the Chairman to make governance arrangements effective. They must also be aware of the interests of all stakeholders and have a strategic overview of the four-year strategy and annual plans. Candidates need a finance background and the four-year term is voluntary with expenses paid. A maximum two terms are permitted. This role is not open to applications from members but we would encourage you to bring it to the attention of anyone you know with the appropriate skills.

The Board is seeking to appoint an Elected Director who, preferably, has skills and knowledge of running archery in ethnic communities. This role is open to anyone who has been a member of Archery GB for two years. The first term of the appointment will run from AGM 2019 to AGM 2022.
