Instructor Award recognised as industry leader
Archery GB’s Instructor Award has been recognised as a British industry leader and been awarded a major national accolade: Institute for Outdoor Learning accreditation.
The Instructor Award is the industry’s leading training course for archery. It is designed for learners with little or no prior experience of archery, it lasts for two days and includes a practical assessment. Once qualified, Instructors will be able to:
- Shoot arrows
- Prepare and deliver archery sessions
- Select appropriate equipment
- Set up a range
- Ensure safety on the range
Will Peel, Archery GB’s Partnership and Commercial Manager, said: “Not only will this award enhance our reputation within the outdoor industry, it will enable us to work in partnership to ensure that anyone taking part in archery has the best possible experience.”
The Institute for Outdoor Learning is the professional body for organisations who use the outdoors to make a difference for others. Its mission is to increase participation and recognise and improve the quality of outdoor learning in the UK. The institute lobbies and campaigns, as well as sharing the latest information, research and good practice.
Gaining accreditation is not easy. The Institute was set up to meet a growing need for those involved in outdoor pursuits, field studies and outdoor adventurous activities, to share safe and effective practice, develop a growing workforce and represent the educational and developmental potential of the sector.
To be successful, organisations have to demonstrate that there is a need for the course, clear aims, measurable outcomes and assessment for learning, that they support professional standards and have ethical codes in place. They also have to show that trainers are skilled and knowledgeable in subject and in teaching.
