Archery GB, MonLife and Starling Bank join forces to host Archery National Tour Finals at Caldicot Castle

Archery GB is thrilled to be bringing world class archery to Wales this year. The National Tour Finals will be hosted at Caldicot Castle, Monmouthshire on Saturday 28 & Sunday 29 September, it's a free event and everyone is welcome to attend.

The event partnership between MonLife, a service group managed by Monmouthshire County, Archery GB and Starling Bank was launched at Caldicot Castle today. Cllr Bryan Jones, Vice Chairman of Monmouthshire County Council, commented: Â"We are really proud to welcome Archery GB to Monmouthshire. It's wonderful to see everyone here today in the gorgeous setting of Caldicot Castle. I would like to wish everyone who is taking part in the prestigious Finals lots of luck - have a wonderful time.”

Caldicot Castle will be transformed into a head-to-head archery arena, the event will be run in the same format as the Olympic and Paralympic Games, which is extremely popular with spectators. There will also be the opportunity for visitors to ‘have a go' at archery along with many other family activities throughout the day.

Neil Armitage, Archery GB's CEO commented: "Caldicot Castle is such a fantastic location and will provide a spectacular setting for our modern format. We expect a close race for the finals on the back of a hugely successful international campaign - with six Olympic and five Paralympic quota places already secured for Tokyo, along with numerous international titles from World and European events.

Â"We are looking forward to working with Starling Bank and MonLife, along with our existing partners to build this into a world-class event - without their support it simply wouldn't be possible.”

Today also saw Starling Bank take its first step into the world of sport sponsorship. Helen Bierton, Head of Banking said: Â"We are excited to be sponsoring the Archery GB National Tour Finals, I represented Great Britain in archery at the 2004 Athens Olympics. I understand first-hand the time and financial implications of competing at the highest level. The benefits of not having to pay fees on oversees transactions when travelling internationally for competitions, makes Starling an ideal bank for sportswomen and men.”

The best of British archery talent will be competing for the honour of becoming Archery GB's National Champions. There will be 32 senior competitors taking part in four different archery competitions across the two-day event. In addition, the Key Event Finals will allow Britain's best junior archers to take centre stage. Gates open at 10.30am and entry is free.
