Membership and Structure Review
We want to make sure our membership offer reflects the needs of every archer in whatever way you engage with your sport. We also want to review the structures of our sport to ensure its future success. That's why this year we are undertaking two separate reviews of our membership offer and structure.
We know expectations and habits in sport and physical activity, and society, have rapidly changed in recent years and new trends continue to emerge. The way that a member interacts with archery is very different to that of 20 or 30, or even five years ago. That’s why we need to review our membership offer to make sure it fits the needs of our current and future membership.
To help us identify our members’ needs we want your views so that we can put you at the heart of our decision making. We’ve already interviewed secretaries, members and former members across the UK but we know it’s important to give everyone a chance to have their say which is why we’re now launching a membership survey. The survey will be sent to all current members by our partners Ragdoll Research and Planning Ltd, a market research agency which we have commissioned to support us in implementing this project.
Please keep an eye on your inbox or check your spam folder depending on your email settings. All data gathered will be anonymous but will help us to produce a membership offer which is fit for the future.
As a thank you, you’ll be automatically entered into a prize draw to win one of two £50 Amazon vouchers. The survey should only take 10 minutes to complete but by participating you’ll be taking ownership of Archery GB’s ability to deliver what you need to take part in and enjoy archery.
The deadline to complete the survey is 28 March. If you have any questions please email email@example.com or refer to page 7 of our strategy here.
Please keep an eye out for Ragdoll’s email which will be from: firstname.lastname@example.org and the subject line will be ‘Archery GB – Membership Survey’.
Archery GB is also seeking the views of all members to help us review the structures in our sport.
Over the last two decades, there has been a great deal of change at Archery GB, and more broadly in the sport of archery.
These changes have led to several opportunities and challenges for leadership, volunteers, membership, and others across the archery landscape.
Change is not always an easy process but we believe this structure review project gives us the chance to meet the future needs of the sport.
We want to engage with people across the archery community, listening carefully to their views, and acting to ensure the sport’s future success.
Progress to date
Since April 2021, we have been bringing together documents connected to the structure of Archery GB and other relevant entities.
A snapshot of data collected and archery community engagement across the whole project to date is as follows:
- 28 hours of formal interview or focus group dialogue (engaging with approximately 50 people across a variety of staff and volunteer roles in the archery community);
- C-SAT survey results, club membership statistics, and RDO data on respective areas;
- Publicly available pre-recorded webinar (170 views) and evidence portal (109 responses);
- Collation of over 50 archery (and other sport) sources connected to structure.
Webinar on progress
We have recorded a webinar to update members on the progress and to present key emerging findings, to test current thinking and to seek feedback.
This webinar can be viewed here
How will we share project updates?
We will meet with regions and home nations, communicate to the county associations and areas, feedback to the working groups and update the Archery GB board.
The outcome of the project will also be discussed at the Archery GB AGM on 23 April 2022.
