How do I claim?

Awards

The Membership Services/Coaching Officer would like to ask all archers, Senior and Junior, who have their sights set on claiming their Master & Grand Master Bowman classifications to remind themselves of Rules of Shooting/Shooting Administrative Procedure 7 4. (b): 'Claims for the title of Grand Master and Master both Junior and Senior in all disciplines as appropriate shall be submitted as soon as possible after the achievement each year and in any case to be received by 31 December.'

We know that many of you who achieve your 3 qualifying scores like to wait and see if you can improve them to GMB level before submitting your claim to the office for processing. This is understandable, as the rules allow you to use the same score twice for a claim for a higher classification. However, this has caused problems when archers get that vital 3rd score as early as June or July but then wait until the Christmas postal rush is in full swing before posting their claims. This leads to inevitable disappointment when claims get held up, do not arrive in the office until well into January, and have to be rejected because they have missed the deadline.

We would like to point out that we do already extend the deadline for receipt until the end of the first week in January, to allow for the 3-day Christmas office closure. We have to draw a line somewhere, so to avoid losing your chance of an invitation to the Masters Tournament, please submit your MB claims, in accordance with the Rules, as soon as you have achieved your scores. If you then go on to shoot GMB scores, make a second claim - the claim form can be found on the website under Home/Services/Award Claim forms. We also strongly advise you to keep a copy of your results lists and claim form, and to obtain proof of posting.
