Great Britain's women have been crowned champions at the World Archery Field Championships in Dublin. And we have a silver medal - and at least two more guaranteed tomorrow!
Top seeds Tracey Hill, Jessica Nilsson and Amy Oliver were in unstoppable form today. They beat Spain 106-81 in the quarter final then went head to head with Slovenia in the semi.
They drew the first end then built up an eight-point lead in the second. And they needed it as Slovenia took the last two sets. But Ana Umer, Toja Ellison and Tina Gutman could not make up the deficit, losing 46-51, and Great Britain went through to the final.
There they faced third seeds Sweden. Tracey, Jessica and Amy lost the first end by a single point but pulled ahead in the second. There was a tie in the third end but Great Britain was three points ahead and a miss by Sweden in the fourth sealed the title for Tracey, Jessica and Amy.
It was a good day for all our women. Juniors Sophie Benton, Rebecca Lennon and Bryony Pitman faced the USA in their semi final. They lost the first end by a single point but then fought back to take the remaining three and a 50-42 victory.
They faced Italy in the gold medal match. It was nip and tuck all the way. Italy took the first end, Britain the second and the third was tied. It all came down to the final end and Italy edged ahead to take the title. But it was smiles all round as Sophie, Rebecca and Bryony collected their well-deserved silver medals.
Both our men's teams ended the competition in fifth place after tough matches. Tapani Kalmaru, Alan Wills and Jason Meehan's hopes were ended by Sweden, who went on to take the bronze medal. Our juniors, Dean Hamilton, Patrick Huston and Craig McCreery, fell foul of Austria in the quarter finals.
Tomorrow, the focus switches back to the individuals and medals are guaranteed. Juniors shoot in the morning, with seniors competing in the afternoon. The schedule for our archers is:
09:00: Sophie Benton faces USA's Abigail Weir for barebow bronze.
10:15: Bryony Pitman goes for the world title against Italian Chiara Rebagliati
10:30: Patrick Huston faces Valentin Ripaux of France for recurve bronze
11:00: Compounder Rebecca Lennon shoots for bronze against Australia's Gabby Dale
15:15 Recurver Amy Oliver takes on Italy's Jessica Tomasi for the women's world title
