The three year partnership between Archery GB and Nottingham City Council was launched at Wollaton Hall yesterday. Nottingham Building Society is the three-year sponsor of the National Series Finals.
On Sunday 1 September the grounds at Wollaton Hall will be transformed into a head-to-head competition, the event will be run in the same format as the Olympics/Paralympics, which proved extremely popular with spectators in London and watching at home.
There will also be the opportunity for visitors to 'have a go' at archery along with many other family activities throughout the day.
David Sherratt, Archery GB's Chief Executive commented: "Wollaton Hall is such a fantastic location, it is going to be the best National Series we've ever seen. We hope, and expect, a close race for the finals, it is more than an archery event it is a festival of archery and there will be something for everyone."
The finals will be a series of head-to-head matches on the back lawn of Wollaton Hall, with a 70m target for the recurve archers and a 50m target for the compound archers.
The best of British archery talent will be competing for the honour of becoming Archery GB National champion. There will be 24 competitors taking part in six different archery events. In addition there will be an exclusive invitational match, showcasing two Paralympic medallists.
David Marlow, Chief Executive at The Nottingham said, "We are thrilled to be sponsoring the Finals which provides us with a unique opportunity to support an activity which has such strong links to our Nottingham heritage."
