The Championships also includes a novice team event which was also won by Nottingham University Archery Club, followed by Edinburgh Napier University ArcheryClub in second and Loughborough Students Archery Club in third place.
University archery competitions are popular events. Twenty six universities took part at the recent BUTC (British University Team Championship) with Oxford University beating Edinburgh University in the final. The next big event after the Indoors will be the BUCS Outdoors on Saturday 15 June at Lilleshall.
Archery GB Chairman Dave Harrison who was a guest of hounour at the event said: "It was a real pleasure to be asked as Lord Patron at such a prestigious event. With almost 600 archers taking part it makes this event the largest single day archery event in the UK. It was tremendous to see so many archers. A big well done must go to the organisers for such a well run event. Congratulations to all the winners, and all who took part".
Archery at universities will be a focus for the Archery GB development team within the new development plan from April 2013. A Higher Education Archery Development Group was formed last year to identify ways in which university archers can be better supported.
