Arrows a hit with delegates

The new Arrows kit for schools has been making quite an impression, especially among delegates at the School Sport Conference organised by the Youth Sport Trust.

A competition to score 10 or more with three arrows was keenly fought and entrants were put into a draw to win an Arrows pack. It was eventually won by Halton School Games organiser Karen Drake.

She said: "You wouldn't believe how excited I am! This is better than Christmas. I never win anything!

"I was only telling some colleagues this morning how good the archery pack is and they wanted me to get one so we could set it up in the office. Of course our priority will be to use it in the primaries! I can't concentrate now with the excitement, I will be awaiting the delivery every day!"

She will also be using the pack in a new Halton school games calendar aimed at giving as many children as possible a taste of Olympic and Paralympic sports.

"Archery will be just perfect for this event and the equipment will definitely be well used in Halton," she said.

The Archery UK competition to win an Arrows kit has now closed and the winners will be announced soon.

It was a close match in Antalya this weekend as the recurve mixed team made up of Ashe Morgan and Naomi Folkard, battled for the bronze medal against Mexico in the Antalya World Cup on Turkey's famous Konyaalti Beach. Narrowly missing out by just one point 141-142 to Mexico.
