Steph beat more than 300 coaches from different sports across the UK to take the national title after being nominated by Gloucestershire Archery Society Chairman Mike Addis. He said: "Her work developing both the club and County Junior Archery Squad has resulted in an explosion of county, regional and national records and titles as well as a surge in membership away from the traditional membership profile of white, male, middle class."
Archery GB's Coach Education Lead Officer Hannah Bussey said: "Steph is a tremendous asset to archery, sets a shining example to others and is responsible for making archery accessible to scores of young people in Gloucestershire, giving them every opportunity to reach their potential within a fun and supportive environment.
"Steph has achieved this by breaking down traditional barriers, developing creative coaching programmes and establishing friendly and close working relationships between other coaches, teachers, local sports agencies and her club."
And there was good news too for Deer Park at the Gloucestershire awards. It won the county's Senior Club of the Year award during a ceremony, which featured Sir Steve Redgrave and Olympic rowing champion Zac Purchase. It was hosted by BBC sports presenter Jill Douglas.
Lucy Mason and Archery GB Junior Squad member Kieran Slater were nominated for Young Sports Personality of the Year and Roger Crang for Outstanding Services to Sport - but they had to settle for runners-up certificates.
