Level 2

The Level 2 coaching course provides the next step in coach training for coaches who have completed the Level 1 course

Role of a Level 2 coach

developing archers from their beginner course

  • Running club coaching programmes
  • Taking overall responsibility for beginner's courses
  • Managing and supporting Level 1 coaches

Course content

The Level 2 course builds on top of the foundations laid by the Level 1 course. Candidates will work to develop knowledge and practical experience in many areas including:

  • Recurve, compound and longbow equipment set-up and tuning
  • Arrows and stabilisers
  • Understanding archery technique
  • Foundations in human physiology, anatomy and psychology
  • Archer observation & analysis and the coaching process
  • Communication skills

Course costs:

All Lead Tutors need to have gained their Level 2 Awareness training, and obtain a Level 2 Registration disk before they register a course. Please email if you require a registration disk. The Registration disk contains all the information required to provide Level 2 awareness training to course staff, and arrange an induction session for the course.

  • Cost £25 course registration fee (per course)
  • Cost £30 per candidate pack
  • Cost £20 per candidate for assessment
  • Additional cost decided on a local level by the Lead Tutor, to cover additionalexpenses for the course

Please note: The course registration fee is for up to 12 candidates on any training course. If you wish to register more than 12 candidates on a course then a second registration fee will be charged.

Coach update

Details of how to update from the 'Coach' grade to Level 2 are now available.

In addition to these documents the candidate will also need to contact the Archery GB Coaching Officer to obtain the support pack. There is a charge of £4 for this pack and it is a required part of the update process.
