Club Documents & Guidance

A range of useful documents and templates are available for clubs when they need support or guidance. The range of documents is also supported by our Handy Guides.

Starting a club

Your club should have an open constitution to welcome new members form all areas of the community. The main actions required to start an archery club have been drawn together in the Forming an Archery Club Handy Guide.

Funding is often needed to purchase equipment and get coaches qualified. See our Funding pages for more information and support on applying for funding.

Running a club

Club officials change over time and sometimes the handover is quick and does not explain everything that happens at club level. Read our Running a Club Handy Guide and view the various Club Documents and Templates available. Running a club takes time and dedication. The information supplied here is to help volunteers and reduce administration.

runningsports was created and funded by Sport England, to support sports volunteers and the people who manage them, and do everything in their power to make sure clubs not only survive, but also grow and thrive. Whichever level you work at, they have a huge number of resources that can help you save time, access funding, attract more members. What's more, much of the help they can give you is FREE.

Sport Scotland has developed a similiar website - Help for Clubs, Sport Wales has lots of information on their website for Coaches & Clubs and Sport NI's website outlines the support available as well.

Developing a club

The best place to start when developing your club is to write a Club Development Plan, this will bring together the overall aims of your club and be used to drive the club forward. This document is one of the most important documents as it puts down on paper what the club's ojectives and aims are - it might one page or several.

ontarget is Archery GB's club development programme. ontarget is a progressive, evolving programme that is simple and free to join. This will be the beginning of a new relationship, where Archery GB offers structure and vision for club development and ontarget working to enhance clubs at grassroots level.

Clubs can also look at Clubmark, if beneficial to the club.

Sometimes clubs require external funding to replace or increase the amount of equipment, help coaches get qualified or run community projects. Despite cutbacks, a wide range of funding is still available at local and national levels. Having a club development plan will allow the club and external organisations to clearly see the club's priorities and how the funding will achieve the identified goals. See our Funding page and Handy Guide for more information and support on applying for funding.

Volunteers, coaches and officials are vital to keep the club running. Have you ever thought of introducing clear role descriptions for club volunteers? Free templates to modify to adapt to your club are available.
