About the Role of the Development Coach:   This short module is an introduction to the Development Coach Course.  The session will explain what the role of a development coach is, which modules you need to complete, what work you need to do, and help you understand what is needed to complete the Coach Presentation day.  Once you have registered for the Development Coach Course, you will have 2 years to complete the modules and the course requirements, allowing you to work at your own pace.

About the Developing the Archer in Front of You:   Designing a progressive series of sessions that addresses the needs of your archers, is essential for your archers to experience noticeable progress over a period of time. This module will help you understand how to prepare a coaching programme taking into consideration key design factors, including the needs of the person in front of you, goal setting, training principles, mental skills, equipment, anatomy, and nutrition.

About the Empowering Archery (Part 2):  Empowering Archery focusses on how we can create the best environment to optimise people’s experiences, retain them in archery, and help them achieve their goals.  The workshop is open to anyone involved in running a club, coaching others, officiating, or parenting a young archer.

By attending, you’ll know how to create the optimal environment for the people you are responsible for in your archery club. The topics explored include:

·         Understanding motivation

·         Climate dimensions

·         Barriers to empowerment

·         Strategies to create a more empowering climate

·         Monitoring your climate

Our work is underpinned by established research on motivation and also specific research in archery. It is delivered in partnership with the University of Birmingham.

Further guidance:  Prospective coaches should read the ‘Guidance for Learners - Attending a Coaching Course' to find out more about what this qualification entails, which can be found at  Further guidance: Prospective coaches should read the ‘Guidance for Learners
