Archery Big Weekend
Archery Big Weekend 3-5 June 2016
Over the last four years, the Big Weekend has successfully introduced thousands of people to the great sport of archery. Clubs and organisations are once again invited to throw open their doors and welcome members of the public to try archery for free (or just enough to cover minimal costs) at fun and friendly events.
Archery GB is delighted to be working with Foresters Friendly Society on the Big Weekend.

Want to host an open day?
Clubs are asked to read through the Guide on How to Run a fantastic Open Day, and the Archery GB Code of Conduct for have-a-go sessions, to ensure you know what is expected, including all details such as placing targets on the floor. It is really easy to sign up, simply complete the online application form
here or download a form here.
Just before the weekend, we will be sending out goodie bags including items to give to the participants. Clubs who are members of Archery GB will also qualify to receive two free T-shirts if you sign up before 18 April 2016. Additional T-shirts can be purchased at a cost of £5 each to Archery GB Clubs and other organisations if ordered before the 18 April.
In April, the events registered and details for the public to get involved will be available on the Archery GB webpage. To ensure sure your event receives maximum exposure, we have also partnered up with the BBC's Things To Do campaign. The dates this year are perfect to capture the interest after the excitement of the European Championship in Nottingham, 23-29 May. After the weekend, the clubs that provide full feedback on how their event has gone will be entered into a prize draw to win vouchers from Clickers Archery.
Some of the feedback from clubs...
"Our club is quite hidden from view, however, people had come specifically to take part after seeing adverts on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and events listing websites. We're really pleased!" Aire Valley Archers, Bradford
"It was great to see so many people come and have a go at archery. We had a great time sharing our passion for archery and hope that we might have inspired someone to get involved in archery in the future." Brixham Archers
"We had about 25 parents and young people turning up on the day and 8 off them returned on Monday to start a beginners course. As a new club this was a great response" Irvine Toxopholites, Ayshire
"Some of the most rewarding moments were seeing participants face light up when they were able to pop the balloon placed centre gold. We went through a lot of balloons as the coaches were very good at helping participants" Bitton Archers, Bristol
