The NSPCC is launching a new campaign - Don't wait until you're certain - at the parents of children who are interested in sport.
The idea is to raise awareness of a special helpline parents can use if they have any concerns about anyone at their children's sports clubs. The message is to get in touch straight away and the number is 0808 800 5000.
Next month, ChildLine will be reaching out to young people who are interested in sport through Facebook, and will be sharing sports-themed interviews on its YouTube channel. The message to young people will be one of empowerment: addressing any worries they may have in sport and talking about issues, as well as looking at the positive sides.
There will also be a focus by the charity's Child Protection in Sport Unit on an athlete's health and wellbeing as part of the safeguarding agenda. It is trying to capture examples of good practice and clarify what sports are already proactively looking at aspects of health and wellbeing as a priority for an athlete's welfare.
