It was an excellent experience all round, despite all the fuss and speculation about transport meltdown and security failures. Getting there was easy, getting in straightforward, great view, the atmosphere was fantastic, commentator great clearly very knowledgeable but pitched t just right.
It wasn't even that expensive, a nice surprise for a parent well accustomed to paying through the nose
To top it all although his disappointment was evident, what a class act Alan Wills was. He was out and about mixing with the crowd afterwards, my daughter Iona, a keen beginner (as am I but she is better!), was in awe and amazed to meet a real Olympian.
We even met a gent who had taken part in the Torch Relay on the Tube en route to Richmond to watch the men's cycling road race afterwards.
Excellent experience and definitely worth the countless slightly frustrating hours trying to buy tickets.
Is it wrong to hope they don't manage to build the infrastructure in Rio in time so we can get them again in four years' time?
