Yes, it was worth it. I had the best time watching top archers shooting, even if they did miss the occasional shot and destroyed the camera in the target. I was able to meet fellow archers from this country and around the world and discuss the sport we all love, enjoy and support at international and club level. Even the people who had never participated in archery went away from these games with a positive attitude towards the sport. I feel this was because archers within the spectators were explaining to non -archers what was happening and passing on their knowledge and enthusiasm freely and in the end everyone was making the appropriate Oh's, when the arrows went into the low scoring rings.
Unfortunately and disappointingly the GB team did not get into any of the finals, but the support from the crowd for all the competitors was overwhelming and generous. The volunteers and security personnel did a great job and should be praised for there achievements and friendliness in their approach to the crowds.
This was once-in-a-lifetime experience that I would not have missed, so just in case it can happen again, I have started a collection tin for Rio 2016. You never know?
